Welcome!

You may be here because you are struggling with a mental health issue or because you are looking for support for a loved one. You have made the brave first step of seeking help.

People seek psychotherapy for various reasons. Some need treatment for a mental illness, others use therapy to gain insight and self-awareness or to grow as a person. As a Clinical Psychologist, my passion is to come alongside you on your journey towards healing and increased self-awareness.

About Me

I completed my first five years of studying in Germany where I obtained my German Diploma (Diplom) in Psychology.

Upon returning to South Africa, I obtained my Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 2018. My experience includes working as a research assistant with a focus on addictions at the Department of Psychiatry at Stellenbosch University. I also worked in a private practice and then a private clinic for a few years.

Another important part of my identity is my faith. I am a Christian, and therefore I believe that God can help us on our journey toward healing. Spirituality can be incorporated in the therapeutic journey if the client wishes to do so.

Services

I offer therapy to adults with a wide variety of life challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, panic disorder, trauma, relationship struggles, adjustment to new life stages, grief, dealing with physical and/or mental illness and work-related difficulties.

Having grown up speaking German and having lived in Germany, I am able to offer therapy in English, as well as German.

I use an integrated therapeutic approach which is adapted based on the client’s needs. I have received training in psychoanalysis at Wits, and I also use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), as well as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). For more information on these treatment modalities, click on the hyperlinks above.

I am currently in training for the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music Therapy (GIM), and can offer these types of sessions under supervision. GIM is a powerful music-centred form of therapy. It involves listening to GIM music programs while in a relaxed state of consciousness. The client embarks on a sound-image “journey” with the music acting as a type of soundtrack that elicits and guides imaging. Afterwards, the experience is processed by means of drawing and discussion. Click here or above for more information.

Psychotherapy - What To Expect

Therapy provides a safe space to explore issues you are grappling with. You do not need to prepare anything beforehand, just come as you are. The therapeutic process requires time, energy and investment from both sides. I believe that a good fit between client and therapist is essential for therapy to be most effective. We will use the first few sessions to determine fit, explore issues that you want to work through and set goals for therapy.
